Q: When does the USL Super League season run?

A: The USL Super League will play a fall to spring season. The season will start in August and go until December and then take a break. The season will resume in February and run into May. Games would not be played in Madison during the coldest times of year.

Q: When would the Madison franchise start play?

A: The current target is the Fall of 2025, once renovations to Breese Stevens Field are complete.

Q: Will there be a community process to help people learn more about the Club and for people to submit feedback on the plans?

A: Yes. The Club will work closely with the community to gather feedback on plans for the Club. The Club plans to work closely with the neighborhood, fan groups and soccer clubs throughout the state to assure the Club is reflective of the community that it will strive to serve.

Q: What improvements need to be made to Breese Stevens Field to launch a successful professional women’s professional team at the tier one standards?

A: Breese Stevens Field needs women’s specific locker rooms and infrastructure, new field turf and renovated facilities to make a first division club viable. Furthermore, the Club will need to secure a full-sized, indoor training facility to make participation in the Super League season possible.

Q: Why the USL Super League?

A: The Forward Madison ownership has been engaged with a focus group of supporters since the Spring of 2020 learning more about the fan’s wishes for women’s soccer in Madison. The focus group felt strongly that professional, not amateur women’s soccer would be the right point of entry. FMFC ownership has been in discussions with the USL for nearly two years about women’s professional soccer and feels that the League and the timing are the right fit for Madison.

A: Madison a great women’s sports City and has a proven track record supporting women’s sports at the collegiate level. Furthermore, the support Forward Madison has received has put the Club on the global soccer map. Madison Women’s Pro Soccer ownership feels that the combination of support of women’s sports and soccer successfully positions the market for the USL Super League.

Q: Who will own the team?

A: The ownership group of Forward Madison has acquired the franchise for USL Super League. Prior to launch, Madison Women’s Pro Soccer will have an expanded ownership group including female community leaders.

Q: Who will be hired for management and coaches?

A: Madison Women’s Pro Soccer plans to hire female leadership for the Club including a female General Manager and female Head Coach.

Q: Where will the team train?

A: The team will need a full-sized, indoor facility for training during the winter months. The team will train at Breese Stevens Field as the weather permits.

A: The Flock, the independent supporters group, will also serve as the supporters group for Madison Women’s Pro Soccer.

Q: Will there be an Academy team?

A: Madison Women’s Pro Soccer prides itself on being Club neutral and plans to work with all youth Clubs in the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association and beyond. The Club will eventually have a reserve team to provide a clear pathway to the first team.

A: Madison Women’s Pro Soccer will be the first and only women’s professional soccer team in the state of Wisconsin. This now provides a clear pathway for girls across the state to pursue their dreams of becoming a professional soccer player.
